Now, as a result of networking and job seeking skills enhancement provided in great part by NOVA and ProMatch, I am reemployed with Boeing Satellite Systems in El Segundo CA. Thanks in great part to highly professional staff at NOVA encouraging me not to give up on myself and to aim higher in my professional development.

  • NOVA provides essential services to the community. It teaches unemployed people skills necessary for the job search such as resume preparation and networking to find the hidden jobs. It also provides a support structure for people when they need it that helps them to focus their job hunting efforts.

It is also a place to join with others who are in a similar situation and provide help to each other. I find it ironic that in this time of high unemployment, funding is cut for a service whcih helps to get people back into the work force. I think that continued funding of this program should be thought of as part of the economic stimulas package, as it is an investment in our future economy.

  • I must state my disappointment when I went to NOVA and found it closed. It never happened like that . There were always someone there with a smiling face to greet and encourage me. I spent a part of my life here. This is the place that had work shops where I poliched up on my interview skills. This is a place where I could network with others to find out infomation re: job search that I needed. This is a place that I even got two of my jobs at. I am back again because I again need its service. I am searching for new infomation again. If anything, NOVA has been one of the best places that the government has spent money on. Period. End of story. I need it back, its funding reinstated and its doors open again. Please . . .

  • When I was forced into early retirement my company paid a large sum to an outplacement firm for resume' help, job search stratagies and other resources. The programs at ProMatch are better than programs developed in the private sector.

  • ProMatch and Nova programs are extremely important to me because they give me hope that there is life after my previous job and tools to ensure successful job serach, plus reason to keep moving toward my goal. The couselors provide care and encouragement as well as alternative ways of thinking about what is possible, and the classes hone our skills and talents. Restoring the funding will provide greater services Monday through Friday for the current members and the many new people joining each day because of lay-offs and downsizing. I appreciate your consideration and approval to move for restore the funds so that services are available all 5 days of the week once again.

  • I have worked for 30 years in California and have never been unemployed until now. Once I became unemployed, I realized how difficult it can be to find the next job even though I am experienced professional. I was unprepared on how to find my next job. The NOVA program has been an incredible value to me: to assist in developing my job finding skills, providing a framework of actions to take to finding a job, as well as support through a difficult time. I do believe that I will be working again soon, with much credit due to the assistance from the NOVA program.

  • When you lose your job you lose your confidence. You also lose power and control. I was out of work for 8 months in 1993. I now volunteer to help others. l call your attention to help other have a place where their confidence and control can stay intact. Please give us your vote of confidence by re-instating funds to NOVA.

  • ProMatch provides a unique and invaluable environment for job hunters; there is something about the program that gives individuals the encouragement and skills to take the next step in their lives. So many individuals changed, it was remarkable. Employment was the standard result. One job seeker changed his job search strategy; he said that before, I was doing everything wrong. A cancer survivor learned that he is strong enough to contribute full time and returned to full time work. Personally the environment energized me and increased my productivity. I also developed skills necessary for my high-tech startup, which is gaining traction.

  • ProMatch is a needed tool for those that did not get the opportunity from their previous employer to be enrolled in an outplacement service to be able to stay competitive in the job market. The ProMatch programs teach you the same things the paid services offer and adds the responsibility to participate in the programs, not just attend classes being offered by a paid service. ProMatch is recognized by a large number of employers in the Silicon Valley. Current employees have either been a ProMatch member or know of someone that has been a ProMatch member. And most know that ProMatch is a good source in a recruiters toolbox. ProMatch gave me a reason to take positive actions and meet job search related goals each day and allowed me to participate in a work like environment. I fully endorse the ProMatch program and would like to see the funding put back in place to help others like they have helped me.

  • NOVA and Promatch which recieve funds from the Workforce Investment Act has been invalvable in proparing me to find and more successfully become employeed. The organization also provides the needed pchological support I need while finding work. . At a time when the demand for services of NOVA and Promatch has increased the replacement of funds is needed.
