We the undersigned, resident and concerned individuals, believe that the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) is making a terrible mistake in eliminating accessible, inter-borough mass transit options. By cutting multiple Express Bus routes, as well as, the Bx 20, B 39 & B 51 local bus routes which serve as an important inter-borough linkage between various parts of NYC, it will have a disproportionate impact on riders with mobility impairments. Further, the below signed demand that the MTA reconsider the decision to discontinue the Express Buses and the Bx 20, B 39 & B 51 bus routes before June 1, 2010.

- I am a teenager with cerebral palsy and accessible buses as well as paratransit services are critical for my indpendence. MTA's practices are unfair and discriminatory. When you take away our independence, you take away our lives! Please check out my webzine dedicated to spreading disability culture and pride: http://www.mosaicwebzine.org

- Hey MTA execs, stop picking on students and those who cannot access the subway system. Instead, cut out the waste, corruption and giving away hundred million dollar MTA properties -- like Atlantic Yards -- to private developers.

- Do not cut out this vital service in NYC, as tens of thousands of New Yorkers with disabilities will no longer have access to school, work, shopping, and the cultural institutions that make life in NYC worthwhile.

- The B51 bus is a lifeline between downtown Brooklyn and Manhattan. It is the only way I can get to Brooklyn other than Access-A-Ride.

- Until every single subway station is fully accessible and all of their elevators are completely reliable, people with disabilities rely on bus transportation. Reducing our options will force more of us to use Access-A-Ride at times when we would choose to use mainline service. Paratransit, while a valuable service, sometimes is not the best option. Furthermore, each paratransit trip cost much more for the city to provide than regular mainline service. Reducing or eliminating mainline buses will lead to heavier usage of paratransit, which will be more expensive for the city.

- The MTA is making a tremendous mistake in cutting all these transit lines and bus routes throughout the boroughs. This is really going to affect the people with disabilities as well as the elderly. I truly think that the people that work for the MTA do not take the time out to find out what kinds of effects these cuts will cause if they cut these particular train lines or bus routes.
