The Right Honourable Stephen Joseph Harper,

This petition is in opposition of the ongoing petition to change our national anthem.

I, along with many other proud Canadians, sincerely ask that our national anthem is left alone. Regardless of the mention of "sons," it is still representative of all Canadians, male or female.

By changing the anthem we lose a piece of our true Canadian identity, tradition, and heritage. For many years it has been a part of our culture and has been sung with the utmost pride. Changing it now will ultimately lead to additional future revisions until it unrecognizable.

Let us show the world that as a country we value and appreciate our history and heritage, and that we shall not erase or edit pieces of it to appease a certain few that cannot appreciate it for what it is.

This is a test of our character as a nation. Let our anthem forever be heard the way we have sung it for so many years!

    • I love our national anthem as it is. My youngest boy is 7 and he sings it every day at school. Being politically correct has its place in a LOT of areas but not here. Please dont change history through our national anthem. It is just wrong.
