Northumberland County has proposed that Off Road Motorcycles be restricted to the main east-west and north-south forest access roads in the Northumberland Forest near Cobourg Ontario, Canada.
The Northumberland Trail Riders (NTR) have developed, with permission granted in 1997 by county council, a network of recreational multi-use trails that are well engineered and pose no proven environmental or ecological concerns. The trails are situated in the Oak Ridges Morraine and were deemed legally allowable according to an opinion from a lawyer contracted by the county.
The Ontario Federation of Trail Riders and the Northumberland Trail Riders are working to preserve your right to ride in this forest.
More information regarding this important issue is available at http://www.oftr.ca/page.php?id=314
By signing this petition, you are stating that you disagree with the proposed trail closures in Northumbermand Forest and you are requesting that Northumberland County enter into a stewardship agreement with the NTR/OFTR to manage all of the existing trails in this forest and to preserve the investment made, in good faith, by the off road motorcylists in this public forest.

- As an Ontario tax payer, I should have the same ability to use the resourses of the province as the rest of the population, as long as I follow the same rules and regulations as the rest of the population. If a cyclist can use the trails, then a motorcyclist following the rules should have the same ability.

- Really take a look at who uses the forest the most, its not who you think . People that use it once or twice a year should not try and controll what others do on a weekly basis.

- I thought this was supposed to be a demcratic process. I am a tax payer and respect the forest. Why am I being restricted. Please listen to the OFTR's recommendation for a trial period of stewardship

- Many of the best stewards of Northumberland Forest are the off road trail riders. It would be very unfair to see use of these trails restricted as proposed.

- This has been investigated and agreed to and there is no reason to restrict the usage as no damage is being done.

- My family including my two small children enjoy the forest, respect the land and treat it fairly and we would like to continue to ride here. It is great family time, and poses no threat to the environment.
