To all interested parties,
We, the Olympus E-xx owners, appreciate the excellent workmanship of the E-series cameras. It is a sturdy camera with high quality optics and accessories. The camera produces images of vibrant color and allows for a wide array of manual settings. Thank you for creating the E-series camera.
It is understood that Olympus is moving forward with 4:3 technology and has no plans to continue the E-series or manufacture an E-30 camera. While that technology may be better in some respects, a large percentage of the E-xx owners would have preferred another E camera. In order to facilitate this, we have come together under the banner of this petition to ask you for a measure of honor in the form of a customer service for our loyalty and admiration for the E-xx cameras.
We the, undersigned, formally request that Olympus Corporation present E-xx camera owners with the service of upgrading the physical memory and the firmware of the E-xx cameras in the following implementations:
To provide a customer service for memory upgrades and firmware upgrades to the Olympus E-xx cameras for the purpose of expanding the buffer from four images to eleven or more images much like the Nikon increased the buffer 3-fold for the D1X. This is first and foremost the main intention of this petition. This is E-series greatest weakness, and while we would prefer to remain loyal to Olympus and retain our E-xx cameras, a 4 image buffer is too small. Nikon has benefited the customer by providing an upgrade service. We would ask that you would do the same.
The secondary request from your customers is for Olympus to provide an upgrade service for firmware for the purpose of extending the capabilities of the Olympus E-xx cameras by furnishing the following expansion to the feature set:
*Add ISO 640, or ISO 480 if 640 is beyond the CCDs well capacity.
*Encode RAW files bit-packed, equaling 5.92MB instead of 9.47MB.
*Combine progressive and RAW modes.
*Allow RAW files to be inspected on LCD, instead of only thumbnails.
*Provide detection of full manual mode (white balance, shutter, aperture, focus) to allow metering step at half-press to be skipped, significantly reducing the full-press shutter lag.
The loyal customers of Olympus E-xx cameras understand that research & technician expenses would be involved and we are not asking for a recall. The camera is not broken. We are asking for Olympus to extend the level of customer service that Nikon is offering by giving E-xx users the opportunity to send their cameras to a physical location for the upgrades to be performed at a reasonable cost and within a reasonable time frame.

- How many customers do you have to lose before you pay attention? I personally have spent thousands of $ Dollars in the last year alone on another brand because Olympus basically abandoned me and other Olympus shooters like me. Smart Companies pay attention to their customers. The customers are the people that help your company grow so if you ignore them then you will also be ignored and lose market share in the end.

- An 'afterfit' focussing screen would also be beneficial and greatly aid manual focussing
