We have purchased Pottery Barn rugs and brought them into our homes only to find they immediately, or even years later, off-gas a burnt rubber smell. The fumes are horrible. Some of us have experienced perceived health problems. Some have had success returning the rugs for full or partial refunds, some have not. Discussions on the internet suggest this problem has been going on for several years. It is time for Pottery Barn to STOP SELLING RUGS THAT OFF-GAS HORRIBLE FUMES. This problem is widespread enough that quality controls should be in place.

- I love the pattern (Cottontail and his Friends), but think I should return the rug because I am afraid of exposing my newborn to toxic organic fumes. I have my Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, so I know better than to keep the rug.

- I have 4 rugs and they ALL stink like latex. I had a professional rug cleaner tell me this is common for PB rugs.

- I have spoken and email potter barn and was told that they are not aware of the problem. I think they are and need to stop selling these stinking rugs. Are they toxic?

- Please let people know how harmful they are! We need to keep our kids healthy and safe and by having these rugs in the rooms of children is not right. My son was very sick for 2 years and I will never be able to forgive pottery barn for just sweeping this under there sticky poison filled rugs. Parents get the rugs out of the rooms now!
