Subject: Regarding direct flights from Gulf countries to Patna.

Dear Sir,

During past few years, the department of civil aviation has grown rapidly, and has responded excellently well to the demands of the market, and to the needs of the people, both domestically as well as internationally. We would like to congratulate you on your far-sightedness and the ever-expanding operations of the government-owned airlines despite tough competition from private operators in the domestic market and from international players in the world market.

Sir, we, the NRIs from Bihar, living in the gulf countries, have failed to benefit from the above boom. We feel that there is a huge market left untapped by the government-owned airlines, with no flights to any city East of Lucknow. We believe that a large population of NRIs is facing hardships due to this neglect of the region, in comparison with other parts of India. A feeling of alienation that NRIs from Bihar currently have can be eliminated by bringing Patna on the international aerial map.

We, therefore, urge you very kindly, to initiate a flight from the gulf region to Patna, at the earliest. This will enable you to raise revenues for your own airlines, which otherwise fly away to other international airlines operating from the gulf region to Delhi (or Mumbai), like the Emirates Airlines, Etihad Airlines, Gulf Air, Saudi Airlines, Kuwait Airlines, Qatar Airlines, Syrian Air, Air Arabia and other cheaper airlines from the CIS countries. Even PIA is able to eat into this market. Direct flights to Patna will bring revenues straight into the coffers of government-owned airlines with the large NRI population from Bihar preferring to reach their hometowns much faster, and with greater convenience.
