We the undersigned, like many Canadians, find it absolutely reprehensible that our Government continues to cater to the French as evidenced by the most recent cancellation of the re-enactment of the battle on the Plains of Abraham.

Under the pretense of not being able to provide security for its citizens after a few radical separatists threatened violence, surely Canada has shown the world not only that it cannot possibly protect any visitor, including dignitaries, from harm on Canadian soil but also that the rule of law and order will not be pursued in Canada.

This cowardly retreat of the current Conservative Government sets a very dangerous precedent whereby any event across Canada (or possibly just those opposed by French separatists) can be thwarted simply with a phone call or anonymous email.

Surely this is not the Canada that we can be proud of on the world stage or the country which would inspire judicial confidence amongst its peer nations.

We, the undersigned, therefore demand that our government do the following immediately:

-re-instate the re-enactment on the Plains of Abraham

-ensure that its citizen's right to be protected is upheld during such an event

-discontinue henceforth from being manipulated by the will of a small fraction of the country

    • One of my Canadian heroes is 'General James Wolfe'. Because of the victory on the Plains of Abraham my ancestors ended up immigrating to Canada. My father and his brother later served in the Second World War defending global democracy for Canada. My father's brother lost his life during the Second World War. I am third generation Irish-(hyphenated)-Canadian - I used to be Canadian. I am bothered how Canada's federal government always and only defends and protects one of its language sectors in Canada. I have a lot of other issues regarding Canada's current, corrupted and biased political process. It's about time that fairness and equality are re-instated in Canada. It is shameful how Canada's federal government is contributing to the division of Canada's entire population thru unfair strategies of protecting one people at the demise of others. Further it is unacceptable how elected members of Parliament will not listen to grass roots concerns of the average non-Quebecois Canadian.

    • As a Canadian citizien, born, grew up & educated in Quebec with ancestors emigrated to Quebec nearly 200 years ago, it is about time the rest of Canada stands up against the injustices by francophones against non-francophones, & establishes the truth & its history.

    • I can't believe we gave into Quebec once again. Our biggest mistake after winning on the Plains of Abraham was allowing them to keep their language. Look where it has got us so far.

    • When are we going to take our country back from a bunch of French ethnocentric racists. I hope this is a solid start. Agood second step would be to throw Gillies Duceppe and his band of traitors out of the Canadian Parliament.

    • How many billions can we spend on Quebec related "cultural" matters and then be told to stay out of their cultural matters? The staggering costs of Quebec remaining in Canada is far, far more than the costs of separation.

    • This was a battle between to FOREIGN POWERS. Francophones in Quebec are no more French than we are English. Why are we censoring our own history to appease a few radicals? And, by the way, isn't making threats illegal in Canada????
