PETITION TO THE
HOUSE OF COMMONS
IN PARLIAMENT ASSEMBLED


We, the undersigned citizens of Canada draw the attention of the House to the following:


Whereas, the most honourable citizens of our Country -- our Veterans -- deserve unconditional respect and unending gratitude for the services they provided to our country;

and Whereas, the Royal Canadian Legion is a key source of support to our Veterans and acquire the bulk of their financial assistance through the Annual Poppy Campaign and are currently being charged GST on its supply purchases of poppies and poppy wreaths;

and Whereas, Bill C-240 has been introduced to Parliament to amend the Exise Tax Act and exempt supply purchases of poppies and poppy wreaths from the GST;


We, your petitioners, call upon the Members of Parliament to expeditiously support this Bill and have it passed into Law.
