We believe, that Spike Milligan's Q Series, which represents one of the most important chapters in the history of British TV comedy, deserves to be released on DVD in full.

Spike Milligan is rightfully regarded as father of modern comedy. His Goon Show revolutionized radio comedy, influenced whole generations of comedians and musicians and is still as funny as it was 50 years ago.

Spike's sketch show Q, which ran for six series between 1969 and 1982 presents an outstanding vision, even for Milligan's high standards. The weird sketch ideas, the bizarre visuals and the lunatic atmosphere of the Q shows remain unparalleled in comic history. The BBC can be proud to have such a treasure in the archive!

Spike Milligan stands in a row with the great surrealists Samuel Beckett, Edward Lear, Lewis Carroll and Flann O'Brien. No other comic had such a idiosyncratic view of the world like Spike: Q's bizarre sketches are completely off the wall and 100 \% comic genius. And the shows are not only very funny but also beautiful to watch, the weird visuals are wonderful and look like they have been arranged by Ken Russell or Peter Greenaway! It is this uniqueness that makes the Q Series more than just a sketch show, but an important work of art. And as he did with his Goon Show, Spike once again influenced whole generations of younger comics, like Python and Vic and Bob.

Sadly, the series was never repeated. In 1993 the BBC compiled five half hour shows under the title 'Q milligan'. Home made DVDs of this programme are sold for high prices on ebay and are widely available via internet.

There are thousands of fans who have fond memories of the series original broadcasts who would love to see the shows again. And there are whole generations of Spike Milligan fans far too young to have seen the original broadcasts who would love to see this unparalleled work of art in full. We therefore suggest that Spike Milligan's Q Series should be released on DVD in its full glory. The remaining episodes of 'Q5', and the complete episodes of 'Q6', 'Q7', 'Q8', 'Q9' and 'There's a lot of it about' would make a fantastic DVD box set and sell thousands of copies.

We are aware of the un-pcness of about 2 \% of the sketches, but because we are clever people who understand comedy, know Spike Milligan's genius, and respect the cultural norms of the 70s, we are not offended and don't need to be patronized.

The BBC is highly regarded as best TV station in the world and produces shows of a constant high quality. With the Q Series, the BBC has produced the most unique comedy show ever! Spike Milligan's surreal and visual masterpiece deserves a full DVD release.

Thank you for considering our suggestion
