We, the undersigned, hereby petition Premier Dalton McGuinty to authorize The Ontario Ombudsman to investigate Complaints against School Boards.
Presently, the Ministry of Education policy has no authority over school boards, nor allowed to investigate any complaints of school boards. Ontario Special Needs children are falling through the cracks and being denied their legal right to education. Their needs to be accountability within the Ontario School Boards.
The Ontario Ombudsmans Office has no jurisdiction to School Boards, yet Canadian Ombudsman in other provinces have this jurisdiction. Please amend the Ontario Ombudsman Act to include Ontario School Boards as it has been modernized in other Provinces.

- The act should also include any constituent requesting investigation surrounding municipalities (Councilors/Mayors) based on facts

- School boards can refuse to follow Ministry policies and parents have no recourse. Accountability is needed!

- This is of extreme importance not only for the learning of disabled kids, but for their very safety and well-being in schools.

- I believe that he school boards should fall under the mandate of the Ombudsman, this would give the people of Ontario a voice in makeing change, when these school boards are being draconian in there way of reacting to the issues at hand. This would eliveiate a multituid of unnessesary extra hassels that i do not need. Noty to mention the cost the taxpayer has to foot the bill for, that is both sides , thank you

- The School Boards profess to be an equitable system. They say special education is there to help students with special needs reach their potential. I would like to see accountability; lets see them walk the talk. I have spent an enormous amount of time and energy to have school administrators and staff to; first see the need to identify, and then develop, followed by implement, monitor and support my child with special needs. It has been, and continues to be an uphill battle, where I am must continue educating staff, and advocating, in order for my child to obtain what the school has already agreed he is entitled receiving. This is equity? Our children desperately need an ombudsman.

- I have definitely had the same experience with my child who was denied an education in the "supposed" Special Education Program.
