We, the undersigned, demand that you stop accepting bookings for the deportation of Iraqi Kurdish asylum seekers
Since 2006 Royal Jordanian Airline flights have been used by the Home Office to forcibly deport over 200 Kurdish asylum seekers back to Iraqi Kurdistan. They fled Kurdistan to escape social and political persecution but as the Home Office policy becomes increasingly intolerant they have been sent back to the same persecution. Royal Jordanian Airlines willingness to profit from this gives the Home Office a quick and easy way to deport people.
The Home Office policy of forcibly deporting people to Kurdistan has been repeatedly condemned by MPs, human rights groups, campaigners, political parties, civil society organisations and trade unions in the UK and Kurdistan. The Home Office justifies its policies by saying the region is safe but recent deportees have been attacked, kidnapped killed by car bombs. At least two people deported on Royal Jordanian Airlines have since committed suicide.
In light of this we demand Royal Jordanian Airlines immediately stop accepting bookings to forcibly deport people to Kurdistan and cancels all bookings already made to do so.
