Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and continued support enacting the DC Medical Marijuana Law.
We ask that you expand the list of qualifying medical conditions protected under the DC Medical Marijuana Law.
Currently the DC Medical Marijuana Law only protects 5 medical conditions: HIV, AIDS, CANCER, GLAUCOMA, MS AND OTHER MUSCLE DISORDERS.
There are hundreds of medical conditions that have been proven to benefit from Medical Marijuana.
Legitimate medical conditions will not be protected under the current law.
The law should allow Doctors their legal right to recommend Medical Marijuana to patients for the treatment of legitimate medical condition.
Through rule-making, the list of qualifying conditions should be expanded to protect rare and other medical conditions that are documented to benefit from the therapeutic use of medical marijuana.
Medical Marijuana is currently used to treat and/or relieve the symptoms of hundreds of medical conditions, not limited to, but including:
Alzheimer's disease
Alcoholism and Other Addictions (marijuana is often used as a substitute drug, such as Methadone is a substitute for opiate addiction)

- I attended Johns Hopkins Headaches Institute for close to a decade for the treatment of my migraine headaches. Cannabis treats the nausea and light sensitivity allowing for over the counter medications to treat my migraines without the debilitating and often ineffective use of powerful prescription medication.

- I have many of the conditions on that list that have only been cured through use of marijuana. I am currently going in and out of court for possession of marijuana that I use to treat my symptoms. Medication has NOT been able to help me!!

- My only other option for chronic pain are pills which are 1) addictive and 2) create ancillary illness (like constipation and stomach problems). This truly helps--not to stop the pain, but to manage life with pain. Thank you.
