Dear High Def movie fans, I'm starting this petition in order to support HD-DVD and hopefully save it, and to show Warner Brothers that the consumer has not "clearly" chosen Blu-Ray. Warner Brothers switched to Blu-Ray exclusive claiming that its the best thing for the consumer, but how about all the consumers that bought HD-DVD movies and hardware for the holidays, or all the loyal HD-DVD fans like myself that own Warner HD-DVDs? Warner just screwed them all.

HD-DVD is more alive than ever, with cheaper hardware prices, and better technological capabilities, both of which are better for the consumer. I guess Warner feel higher prices and less features are better. The only thing Blu-Ray has going for it is 20GB of extra storage space, and a big name like Sony backing it up. HD-DVD on the other hand has PIP, web-enabled features, in movie menus, and much more. And if extra space is needed, use another disc, big deal.

So please, sign this petition, and lets get as many votes as we can so we can hopefully change Warner's mind to return to being format neutral, or go HD-DVD exclusive. This would also show the remaining HD-DVD exclusive studios, Universal & Paramount, that HD-DVD still has supporters, thus they shouldn't switch to Blu-Ray. We have a chance to save a superior format from collapsing under the weight of the greedy Sony corporation and its inferior Blu-Ray format, let's do it!

    • The truth is there was VERY little difference between the 2 formats. HD-DVD was cheaper on the hardware end (Toshiba) and their players had all adopted the best standard for hi-def video. (before Blu-Ray, mind you) Years ago, a new HD-DVD player that has specs that are, just now, standard on Blu-Ray at an average price of an HD-DVD player was 3 years ago. Sony bought the market (through the film distributors) as they couldn't afford to have Blu-Ray sink, which would in turn destroy their PS3 franchasise that just came to the market. Now, after all that was said and done, Blu-Ray is equall to what HD-DVD did years ago. (except Blu-Ray did offer larger capacity discs) History will note that hi-def video discs were first to market via HD-DVD. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter anyways, as Blu-Ray is basically HD-DVD in blue packages vs. red. You heard it here first, folks.

    • I think hd dvd is way better than blu ray.I have both an xbox 360 hd dvd drive and ps3 so i know what i'm talking about.I'm not a blu ray hater and blu ray is good but i think sony tricked people in to thinking they were the best when alot of features on blu ray came from hd dvd.Sony needs make some of there own ideas and do less copying.Plus hd dvds are cheaper to make which means better marketing especially since the economy is going though some things. Also people still buy the format and indie companys are making hd dvd versions of there movies, just look online, and retailers are still selling hd dvd products like best buy,walmart,gamestop/ebgames and many more. All you have to do to find hd dvds or players is type in hd dvd and there you have it hd dvds.So please wb,universal, paramount, dreamworks, and anyone else reading this statement please bring back hd dvd evan if you still suport blu ray.Because what matters is the consumer, and besides this way you'll have something for everyone. From Drake Wilson.
