We the undersigned firmly believe that the stopping of the simultaneous Eucharistic services that occur at St Basil & All Saints church in Widnes, Cheshire, UK will undoubtedly damage the ecumenical work that has been developing there over the past 25 years.

    • The simultaneous Eucharist has enabled my husband and I to go to church together at Christmas and around Easter as I am RC & he is anglican. It provides unity and allows both congregations to celebrate together while recognising and respecting the differences in beliefs of the two branches of Christianity.

    • This is a precious event in a remarkable & (sadly) rare parish. It facilitates something of the unity & lack of exclusiveness we all talk about but make little progress with. To block it would be such a retrogressive & highly regrettable step.

    • As someone privilaged to grow up in liverpool at the time of the wonderful work undertaken by Bishop David and Archbiahop Derek, it saddens me that both Churches appear to be retreating behind their previous "battle" lines again. As Christains we should be displaying a united face in these troubled times, rather than jumping on the fundementalist bandwaggon.

    • I feel that stopping the simultaneous Eucharist is a step backwards and does not give out any encouragement for future ecumenical ventures.

    • I have attended St Basil & All Saints Church from a very young age and one of the main attractions is the simunltaneous eucharist. In a time when many young people are turning away from the church, this inclusive ethos is a really welcoming sign and has encouraged not only myself but other young people to attend mass. St Basil & All Saints is a wonderful church please don't change something that has joined our community together so succesfully for so many years!
