Dear Secretary General:

We are writing to bring to your attention recent published statements by Mr. Richard Goldstone, principle author of the United Nations' Human Rights Commission report on Israels Operation Cast Lead, which is popularly called The Goldstone Report.

As you are undoubtedly aware, Mr. Goldstone has now expressed his concerns over the blatantly biased process which produced the report and the existence of evidence which contravenes the report stating, If I had known then what I know now, the Goldstone Report would have been a different document.

In particular, Mr. Goldstone confirms that the Israeli government's independent investigation has effectively established IDF claims that Hamas combatants were mislabeled as civilians by the report.

In addition, Mr. Goldstone notes the mistake of presuming that a terrorist entity dedicated to the extermination of a U.N member state would engage in any self-examination of its policy of targeting civilians. Mr. Goldstone writes,

At minimum I hoped that in the face of a clear finding that its members were committing serious war crimes, Hamas would curtail its attacks. Sadly, that has not been the case. Hundreds more rockets and mortar rounds have been directed at civilian targets in southern Israel. That comparatively few Israelis have been killed by the unlawful rocket and mortar attacks from Gaza in no way minimizes the criminality. The U.N. Human Rights Council should condemn these heinous acts in the strongest terms.

Mr. Secretary General, we call upon you to lead the United Nations in joining Mr. Goldstone in publicly repudiating the biased Goldstone Report, and in publicly condemning the continuing Hamas war crimes. Further, we ask you to commit yourself and the remainder of your tenure as Secretary-General to denouncing and correcting the culture of moral equivalence, in which the United Nations equates the legitimate actions of a member state with the depraved violence of terrorists. We ask that you call upon all UNHRC members and inform them of Mr. Goldstones belated repudiation of the report, demand that they also repudiate the report, personally and publicly repudiate the report for the same reasons as Judge Goldstone, and request that further action based on this erroneous report be halted.

The United Nations, by publishing the Goldstone Report, has been responsible for unleashing a general wave of anti-Semitic and violent anti-Israel rhetoric. It is time for the United Nations to publicly repudiate the report and clear Israels name with the same vigor and intensity with which they besmirched it.
