Please provide more shade in our children's playgrounds and parks. Sails or canopies should be erected to protect children from the sun's harmful rays. The planting of mature trees would help, too. Our areas of interest include but are certainly not limited to the playground at the end of Ocean Park Blvd. and Joslyn Park. Thanks for going the extra mile to find funding to help keep our kids safe.

    • The park on Marine Street is also in need of shade in the playground area. It is the only area within the park that is lacking of any shade. As Global Warming continues to ramp up, this weekend being a perfect indication, I fear that mindful parents are having to keep their children indoors more often - a sad solution for those living in Southern California. I hope you hear our cries as parents, Santa Monica residents, fellow citizens and voters. Thank you.

    • Our pediatrian recommends that children play in the shade between 10-3 o'clock. As of now, there are no local parks where they can do this.

    • The Airport playground is completely bare; if it is hot, there are no children on the playground because the heat is unbearable. Please, please expedite putting in sun shades / mature trees ASAP. Thank you.

    • Please put in sunshades; we can't enjoy a day at the park when it is hot due to no sun shades.
