Dear NBC Universal,
Fans of Saturday Night Live are extremely disheartened by your continuing removal of SNL clips from online video sites such as YouTube. Though this action is understandable and just, this still leaves many saddened and unable to relive their favorite SNL moments. This petition is to encourage the creation of a website (perhaps in a similar vein to TheDailyShow.com) which would allow fans to watch any Saturday Night Live clip freely on demand. Since many beloved sketches are unavailable on DVD or otherwise, the lack of such a site is a wasted opportunity not only to significantly raise NBC viewer morale, but also to make a huge profit from ad revenue (which could surely more than cover the maintenance costs of the site and potential drop in DVD sales). On behalf of SNL fans the world over please consider this proposal.

    • 90\% of the time, when I think of an SNL skit, I'll check hulu and nbc.com, and it won't be there (like right now with a Dell dude sketch). It's always so dissappointing, and a bit angering to see that there is no legal (or illegal) way to watch it. It just doesn't make sense to me, and it seems there's a huge oppurtunity lost here. Also, there've been a couple of times when I've tried to find a clip on hulu, and had to search more than once through google to find it, because of the sub-par search engine and tagging on the site. I hope you're doing something to fill this void.

    • Satire is the most honest commentary the public gets today. This is what has made shows like the Daily Show and Colbert Report so popular. Censoring previous episodes, for whatever reason, denies the public access to satire of the various views on the "hot buttons" of our society that are still present today. I myself was looking for a sketch for educational purposes that I remembered as a teenager over a decade ago. I would even purchase the sketch or specific episode, but there are no means to do so available because the sketch has been removed from online.
