Please release Song of the South in it's ENTIRETY to DVD/BluRay in the U.S.A. And possibly even digitally enhance it with all the modern sound and video cleaning techniques. This is truly an American classic film that has one of the best sound tracks of all time. Disney should be allowing the general public the decision to whether or not we want to show our kids a movie about a black man who teaches white kids a few life-lessons through the use of story telling and song. For Disney to decide that this movie is racist is just plain dumb. I don't recall anything in this movie ever being racist. The only thing I know is that the main character is black and he is portrayed as a good man who loves the children he lives with. Just because he is a slave doesn't make this racism. Yes, slavery is racist, but just because a movie is based on the American slave era doesn't mean the movie itslf is racist. Should we ban Roots also, just because it portrays slaves as slaves? If it's a racists movie then why did Disney release this movie at all to other markets? Why was a "racist" movie ever allowed to be sold in other markets such as the UK and Japan? What makes them so special? It's an American movie and we can't even get it here. Let's stand up America and let Disney know that we can handle a movie that has a slave in it and that we are able at this point in our history to look at a movie as just a movie and people as people. Regardless of theme or color.

- I can't believe that their are only 4 signatures on this so far. America should be ashamed! We have been through so much together, no matter our skin colors. I agree with the person who started this petition. If we ban this movie, why don't we ban Gone with the Wind, Roots, Schindlers List, The Ten Commandments, The Robe and anything all the other movies that have a ounce of history in it! We have plenty of movies today that are behind true stories and some of them are box office hits....like the Blindside. Should we ban that one as well? I loved this movie growing up and I think it is about damn time it gets released again!!!
