As current or past members or friends of Scouting, we believe that the sale of Scout Camp property is inappropriate, unnecessary, and a poor method of raising funds.

We are against the sale of 100 acres of the Haliburton Scout Reserve property. We believe that the land is very useful to Scouts and that there are many more appropriate methods of raising funds for the camp.

    • I find the reason for the sale is that it is not used because it is not accessible and the list ing says it is accessible???????? Since the listing says accessible, why is it not accessible for scouts???? DO NOT SELL

    • This is absurd - this land should not be sold - especially now when the markets are so far down and the land is now relatively undervalued.

    • once it is gone you'll never get it back. In 20 years you might really need that land. Scouts is for the future, not just now.

    • I have camped on Drag Lake everytime that I went to HSR, it is valuable land to the scouts, it was definitely the most out of the way part of the camp, but that was what made Drag lake amazing!!!!

    • Land sold is land we will never get back in the future. To sell property is to sell off the future of Scouting.

    • Outrageous. Make the land more usable. Easily done on a trails weekend by volunteers.

    • This property belongs to the future Scouts and must be held in trust for them, never to be sold or wasted.

    • I think this decision should be made by the scouters similiar to the sale of Camp Jackson Dodds in Quebec. There should also be other fundraising methods to try to improve the Camp. Once this prime piece of property is sold it is gone forever. Why are they selling in this ecomony? Scouts Canada will get less for it. Bad business decisions all around.

    • Even if it is not being used, if it is sold it will be developed, so it serves as a sort of nature reserve as Scouts property.

    • This is incredibly short sighted, you are selling out the future of Scouts. We will never be able to get that land back, you MUST raise money in a different way. This is so short-sighted.

    • This is an outrage. In today's society, it's sad to admit that Scouting is a dying organisation. HSR is keeping it alive! Everyone who has experienced a week in Haliburton would share my opinion. This CAN'T HAPPEN!
