Save the Gynae Ward Letterekenny General
The decision to close the Gynae Ward in Letterkenny General Hospital without thought or discussion is an insult to the women of the county. Apart from the Maternity Unit, the Gynae Ward is the sole "female only" unit in Letterkenny. This female-only environment provides a haven for women and their families who are experiencing the trauma of miscarriage whilst offering a "walk-in" service for women who may be concerned about the health of their pregnancies. Please show your support and sign this petition.

    • I am truly disgusted at the decision to close this ward. I certainly hope the local people back this campaign 100%, and voice their concerns as loud as they can.

    • Women in Donegal matter just as much as those in big cities. Are they not entitled to the same healthcare and dignity?

    • Where will the women who are having a problem with their pregnancies or miscarriage go? this ward is needed and the staff who work their are very attentive in what they do and you can't afford to loose that.

    • As a male student nurse, I can't emphasise how important I see the Gynae wards role in the hospital. The kinds of cases dealt with in the Gynae ward are of an extremely delicate nature, and should be treated in a specialist area, run by specialist staff and not in an open environment with staff who are perhaps not so adequately prepared for the particular case. To expose these sorts of cases in a public ward would also appear to infringe on the patients rights to privacy and fair treatment.
