PGE is installing Smart Meters on Alameda County homes and businesses, often without residents consent. State Senator Dean Florezhascalled for a moratorium due to inordinate billing increases.Sebastopol requested a moratoriumciting concerns about health and radio frequency radiation, reading accuracy, and interference with appliances. In light of those issues, lack of security and vulnerability to hackers, or inadequate privacy, we the undersigned request that you:

1. Call for an immediate moratorium on the installation of Smart Meters;
2. Thoroughly investigate the program and the six concerns above by holding public hearings and requiring independent testing;
3. Require PGE to submit a characterization study of the system planned for Alameda County;
4.Allow customers to "opt out" of program;and
5.Call for amoratorium on the disposal, recycling, or permanent alteration of the old meters.

    • Reducing greenhouse gasses, nuclear threat, and corporate dominance of government are more important issues to me, but I felt compelled to create this petition. What most bothers me is that the devices are installed without our consent and, in some cases, without residents' knowledge. I put signs on my gas and electric meters saying "Please do not install 'smart' meter" but most of my neighbors' are already installed. If yours are already installed, you may wish to sign the petition anyway, in solidarity, so we take it rising up instead of lying down.

    • PG&E has demonstrated clearly it cannot be trusted to protect people's health or "play fair". The fact that PG&E already has upset people's lives by pushing through a dangerous, wifi product to make it a "done deal" should be enough to make the case not only for a moratorium, but for an immediate rollback to the traditional meters where the "smart" meters already have been installed.

    • "Smart Meters" come with serious concerns about health effects, privacy, and accuracy of meters resulting in higher rates. There's nothing "smart" about these gadgets and I don't want them where I live. Stop PG&E from bullying residents who depend on a power source to keep their life support running!

    • Citizen Choice is mandatory!! The only Smart Meters are those that absorb SOLAR and WIND POWER backwards INTO the grid!!! (hey, arent they gross all the tom harman 3 strikes ads on this petition eh??)
