  • It amazes me that people would want to eliminate people they know nothing about. Or maybe it is the fact that the MTA Police are affraid since the TBTA Officers make more arrest, write more summonses and even though they are Peace Officers act more like police then the suppossed MTA police. Why not ask an MTA police officer where they were on 9-11-01, well I do believe they raced as fast as they could to the QMT...to bad the emergency was at the BBT and the Officers, Sergeant's who work the BBT not only raced to the scene but stayed there saving lives when all hell was braking loose. They do not need to read about themselves in the papers, they know that they are TRUE HEROS.....maybe we can all read about the MTA police in the paper about running drunk and naked at GC station....GIVE THEM WHAT IS DUE THEM....TBTA FOR LIFE.

  • First of all TBTA is self funded and this has nothing to do with tax dollars. Second if TBTA wants to save money they should stop payin 70 cents from every dollar they make to pay MTA Police pay checks all those guys do is sleep on duty and run aroun naked on duty. And if they are Police why is it TBTA COPS make 100% of all arrests at TBTA Facilities and run 100 % of all check points at MTA bridges and tunnels. LIke it or not TBTA COPs ARE COPS and MTA crap should stick to lookin out for turnstyle hoppers cause when the tempeture drops to 10 degrees outside TBTA is out there 24/7 saving lives not hiding in a car. Imagine a City with TBTA not arresting thousands of drunk drivers a year, we all know MTA police never has done this for our city. Also more truth: there are no MTA police on tbta facilities everyday its a LIE. TBTA Officers Double their numbers in uniformed officers.Security guards dont make arrests or write summonses or perform every police function that we do. Your outclassed and make No $$$

  • We are officers who believe the ultimate goal is obtaining "Full Police Status" under the CPL of NYS. This does not mean however that we believe that we are any less "police" without it. We already do the job of TBTA's police force, for it is we, not the MTA police that man the checkpoints, patrol the bridges and tunnels and arrest the DWI's and other offenders that use our roadways. We issue the numerous summonses for violations of TBTA rules and regulations, NYC traffic rules, NYS vehicle and traffic law and other offenses. We deploy the bomb search mirrors, use handheld radiation pagers to uncover weapons of mass destruction and are trained to detect counterfiet and fraudulent documents. We are the first to respond to fires, medical emergencies and criminal acts on our bridges and tunnels. We, not the MTA police! Yes, we do it all! Yes we are the TBTA's Police! Don't let anyone fool you, we are the police. You like to refer to yourselves as "the Real Police" No way there is only One Real Police - NYPD

  • No one is attacking peace officers. It makes no sense for the MTA to maintain multiple law enforcement agencies. I think the MTA made their intentions clear when they had the MTA police start patrolling the Bridges & Tunnels. BTOs between 21 and 35 will most likely become MTA Police officers while the others will be remain in the BTO position, which will eventually die of due to attrition. Change is coming its only a matter of time, you guys knew this was coming the first day you saw MTA PD units enforcing laws on the MTAs bridges. Just like park police on Long Island and Thruway Authority officers your time is numbered. You guys will become police officers just not the way you want it.

  • I am NOT SIGNING IN FAVOR OF THIS PETITION! The MTAPD is a childish and unprofessional organization. When I say this, just look at the comments they wrote, ON THEIR OWN PETITION! A certain person writes about two people having anal sex. Another refers to a "dirty sanchez." How can anyone take people like this seriously? And these "police" are saying that we TBTA BTO's are nothing but toll collectors. Let me reiterate what my fellow officer's have said, and the BOLDFACE LIES told by the MTAPD- taxpayers DO NOT pay our salaries, there are no MTAPD officers at any of TBTA's 10 facilities, we have been carrying weapons for a long time and HAVE NEVER had a criminal act commited. If the MTAPD is put in charge of our facilities, THAT will be an extremely dangerous atmosphere for the public, and themselves. NOBODY knows the ins and outs of our facilities better than we do. Putting them there may cause great harm to either the public or themselves. Ask the MTAPD if they know how to evacuate a tunnel? NO!

  • Further after reviewing the stats that I have access to it does appear that the TBTA issues more summonses than the MTAPD. How ever the TBTA is severely behind the MTAPD in criminal arrests. Which makes sense, the TBTA is in the perfect position to issue summonses for V&T violation since their customers are the motoring public. The MTAPD has more contact with individuals and is responsible for a much larger area. Im still waiting for further responses on FOI requests from the TBTA.
