Poor choices by Valve Software have recently upset many by unfairly reasoning players which use an idle program are cheaters. Deleting gained items causing an instant uprising of players willing to threaten a boycott against all games made by Valve Software. I ask as many people that are willing to sign this online petition to quickly end the unfair acts by valve and have the idle items returned. as practiced in law a person who commits a crime before a law has been passed against can not be persecuted under the new law.

    • While I do not support idling, I believe Valve has addressed this issue in a way that will disenfranchise a portion of their fan base. I see idling as a result of Valve's decision to incorporate rare items into the game. The people who idled to get their hats did not incur any unfair bonus from a gameplay standpoint. Punishment is not the right course of action, rather fix the loophole the idlers slipped through, and truly reward the players who did not idle with an adequate compensation.

    • I feel that Valve's recent action will create resentment against the company among a significant number of players who represent an active part of the game's community. Valve created a poor item and inventory system with (in particular) an extremely rare drop rates for hats, a cosmetic feature most of the player base was quite excited for. The game's most recent patch placed a great deal of focus on new releases for them. However, with hat drop chances being a fraction of a percentage to acquire, based on a random time based formula, and with no direct way to earn or unlock, it's not surprising that people would seek to idle to unlock and enjoy what is otherwise unreachable content for the vast majority. Idling was the result of a poor system, and not a lack of effort in wanting to acquire the items. To punish players and call them cheaters for something that did not affect the balance of play, and to punish retrospectively without warning seems over-bearing , inaccurate, and unfair.
