Maine, a state blessed with great natural resources, a proud history, and a unique character, lacks many of the amenities available in larger and more heavily-populated states. Many Maine residents have moderate incomes and cannot afford luxury food items, even if these items are available.

Trader Joe's has made a name for itself by bringing shoppers quality food items at low prices. A Trader Joe's store in Maine would serve two purposes: it would provide Maine residents with a wider range of food products, and it would make these items available at discount prices that most Maine residents could afford.

The Portland area supports a wide range of ethnic restaurants and specialty retail outlets, and we believe that a Trader Joe's would prosper. Although Portland has organic supermarkets and gourmet food stores, Trader Joe's would fill a unique niche, without competing directly with existing businesses.

We, the residents of Maine, ask Trader Joe's to open a store in our state.

    • I visited one in NYC- Portland would love it... If Presque Isle is lucky enough to have one-- Portland should too.

    • Please let Mainers show you how much money we can spend at TJ's if only given the chance. Brunswick would be VERY nice. Thank you.

    • Although many Maine residents support small business, the cost of shopping at local grocers and small businesses is greater than some can afford. Trader Joe's offers a great grocery alternative for consumers that want high quality foods at a proper prices.

    • We definitiely need a TJ's here in Maine. We shopped regularly at TJ's in Eagle Rock & W. Hills, CA early in our marriage. You have no competition. Mid-coast Maine is ripe for a TJ's. Why look only at Portland? Between Belfast & Rockland you would have a bang up business. We miss not being able to shop at TJ's.

    • I shopped at Trader Joe's every week in California. Please put one out here in Maine. I love so many things they sell, from bar soap to fresh veggies, to their lovely Cotswald cheese.

    • I am a convert I admit it! But the 45 minute drive to Portland to get groceries every week is NOT economical. Please please please consider a Trader Joe's Location in Brunswick Maine. There are several locations large enough to accomodate you with extremely ample parking (unlike the Portland location where the parking lot is a nightmare!). Brunswick could absolutely support a store and you would draw from surrounding communities including college kids from Bates and Bowdoin.Thank you in advance for your consideration.
