Dear Mr. Castiglione,

We the fans and supporters of Oklahoma and Texas have authored this petition in an effort to insure that our feelings are known in regards to the future of the annual Oklahoma-Texas game in Dallas.

As you know, the Oklahoma-Texas game has been played at the State Fair of Texas since 1928. On the Soonersports website there is an entire page dedicated to this rivalry. Some of the quotes from the site:

"That's the way it is at OU-Texas. The games mark time and give players and fans experiences for a lifetime".

Right now, I think it's the best thing going in college football", Chris Fowler.

In recent news reports in the Dallas Morning News and James Hale's OUInsider website, it has become clear that the future of this game being played in the Cotton Bowl is in serious jeopardy.

We have sat back and watched the game gain different title sponsors in an effort by the Universities to capitalize off the popularity of the rivalry. We now request that you consider the desires of the fans and leave this game in it's rightful place of Dallas, Texas and the Cotton Bowl.

We understand that there are several factors that will come into play in making this decision. We feel that the wishes of the fans should be one of these factors, if not the biggest. We are the people who purchase the tickets and travel to Dallas each October in support of our teams.

In an era when money is the engine that drives college football, we petition that the players and supporters of these universities be taken into account and that the most unique and special atmosphere in college football be left in tact.

It would be an absolute disgrace to see 80 years of tradition destroyed due to financial concerns and egos. We often talk about the "good things" in college football. It is these rivalries and these games that seperate college football from the rest. It is time that the players, fans, and traditions be celebrated and protected by the decision makers at each university.

Thank You for listening.

The fans and supporters of the Universities of Oklahoma and Texas.
