We the undersigned support the formation of the Ethiopian Diaspora Conflict Resolution Committee (EDCRC) to bring about closure to the rift that has developed within the Kinijit International Leadership.

We are resolved that a divided movement adds to the dysfunction of the struggle to oust the EPRDF dictatorship and undermines the sacrifices the Ethiopian People and its leaders have paid and continue to pay in the service of Democracy, Human Rights and the Rule of law.

We therefore appeal to the Kinijit International Leadership to submit to this process of resolving differences as set out below:

The factions to appoint a three person Ethiopian Diaspora Conflict Resolution Committee (EDCRC), that shall be headed by a person acceptable to both sides.
The selected individual will nominate two more individuals to sit on the committee subject to the approval of the factions.
These shall be joined by three representatives from each side to plead their case to the committee.
In order to make this feasible both parties come to the table agreeing to be bound by the decisions of the arbitration team.
A total restructuring of the chapter formation process, including the selection by the chapters of the International Support Group Leadership;
The EDCRC makes its recommendations and findings known to the public unless both sides, upon reconciliation, decide against disclosure.

    • Please put petty differences aside and come to the table or else you stand to lose the grassroots support of the Diaspora.

    • I am delighted for your proposal regarding independent reconciliation and commission to sort out the Kinijit Diaspora problem. I hope we all should work in a democracy manner and elected every year all over world kinijit support group. I believed also KIL and Kinijit support group work together in the democratic principle.

    • Do give priority for the people of Ethiopia. I suggest, both party step aside until the dispute resolved. I do believe both parties give priority for the continuation and intensification of the struggle against the EPRDF. So, they can contribute and support the struggle like any other member and Ethiopian.

    • Oppose the recommendation, Emeru Zeleke should retire from politics. Enough is enough. Kinjiet does not mean Shlequa or Birhanu. It does no evaporate because of one or mor scandal. It is eternal. If Hailu Shawel or some one else dies, it does not mean Kijiet will be history. We do not want retirees that have non evolving grey matter to lead an organization that is vital to Ethiopia. Thanks, I hope you do not remove my comment. If you do... thanks

    • Bravo Shaleka, weldone. I do not think Andargachew Tsege, a former Weyane and opportunist could have contributed nothing to the struggle. If he had any desire to oppose Weyane, he shouldn't have waited 10 years to publish a book about Weyane. As he did during last day of Mengistu to jump on the bandwagon of Weyane, he published a book to secure a seat for himself within the opposition. In effect his ambition brought down Kinjit and the Diaspora public. No reconcilation is needed. These two guys with their cadress should be removed. That is the only way one can bring some peace within the Diaspora. So Bravo Shaleka!!!

    • I agree all your ramification. In my view, the two parties are not genuine since they are not accepting their error and also they believe that they are RIGHT. We need a leader who is aggressive, young blood and who can think differently, genuine, honest, confidence and can mobile all kinjit supporters to success and finally knowing how to use his/her leadership wisely.

    • Good starting proposal! If both sides are open minded and give a priority for the people of Ethiopia, they will accept this offer.

    • Our relationship and friendship should not be to limit our ablity to do our responsibility effectively. Electing a leader among ourselves should be the basis of democracy. Let us be inclusive rather than exclusive. Gossip and personal defamation always bring retalation. Time should no consume us instead of us using it and advance.

    • I have totally given up in Ethiopian politics! What I'll do, I'll do it alone! As you stated the grassroot movement is gone from side. Bringing in an older generation will only save the two conflicting groups, it won't change the core problem in Ethiopian politics, "I'm right and you are wrong, if you don't care go to hell" Selam and adious!

    • Please, resolve your problems in a civilized and democratic manner. Stop publishing further resolution on any website. Our leaders are suffuring in jail and the ethiopian people has paid with their lives for a democratic change and you(the so called leaders) are making joke on them. Do you call this the spirit of Kinijit? Is this shameful act neccessary now when we need to work together even harder than ever. Be grown for god sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Why you think Woyane is an enemy when an Amhara is an evil enemy to oneself. The killing will not stop by this petiton but rather by partitioning of Ethiopia. That is the only medecin I se fit the building and destroying syndrom of AMHARA. I hate that country but now I am begning even to hate my self being from AMHARA.

    • I like your analysis. It has helped to build your case and thereby to help your readers understand the root causes of our current political problems. Understanding the problems means being in a better position to find the right solutions. I also like your suggestion to the potential solution. It is feasible and sound. Only the unwilling will deviate from the proposition. I have no doubt that the three distinguished Ethiopians will take over and resume the wonderful task as suggested. I would recommend that you draft a letter specifically addressed to the selected figures officially asking them to accept the task. You may need a few other distinguished people of your choices to present to them the official letter by which to ask their permission and willingness. I believe that gives the essential weight to the matter and the necessary credit to approach the distinguished individuals. You have done an exceptional job. God Bless and best of luck.

    • I support the sprit. However, I differ substantially on the recommendation of Amb. Imiru Zelleke as a potential mediator. Remember, the ex-Ambassador who served his country during the imperial majesty Haile Silassie era has become a very old person. It is on the record that his memory failed him to the extent of recollecting the cause of major historical facts such as that of WW II. Professor Alemayheu is a good choice and someone young and vibrant like him who has not been intensely involved in Diaspora politics would be preferable.
