We, the undersigned, believe in the Conservative Tenets of the Mazdayasni Zarthusti Faith.

We believe:

That a Zoroastrian, Parsi or Irani, (henceforth referred to as Zoroastrian) is one born of BOTH Zoroastrian Parents.

It is NOT possible to be converted into our religion, only born into it.

Navjotes, Weddings, Paidus, and other liturgical ceremonies can only be performed on Zoroastrians. We support our Priests who adhere to these rules.

The BPP is WRONG in allowing (in some circumstances) Zoroastrian males who have married non-Zoroastrian Females to be called Zoroastrians. Our religion is one of gender equality and has never allowed Zoroastrian men (or women) to marry outside the religion.

Our religious institutions are NOT public facilities. Dokhmas, Agyaris and Atash Behrams were created by private families and trusts for the use of like-minded Zarthustis. This is evidenced by the omnipresent signs outside our places of worship.

Good Thoughts, Good Words, and Good Deeds, is an essential part of Zoroastrianism. However those tenets alone do not make a religion, but rather a philosophy. If a Zoroastrian wishes to practice Zoroastrianism, they must also practice various other spiritual tenets of our religion such as wearing the Sudreh and Kusti.

Liberal minded people are entitled to their own opinion, and should NOT force us, our priests, and our institutions to practice their version of Zoroastrianism. We wish to practice Zoroastrianism the way it has been practiced for millennia.

Please sign and forward this petition to all like-minded individuals so that we can show them that we are NOT silent and NOT a minority.

    • I fully understand the reasons behind our religious rules and simply wish that others would respect them.

    • Everyone is entitled to freedom of religion and freedom of speech. However, I do not feel it is right to pressure a change in tradition on a group of very peaceful people, especially in religion. A Protestant is not entitled to instruct a Catholic on the "correct" way to practice one's faith. If I do not agree with certain practices than I will do what I feel is right, but I will not foist my views onto others. Keep the peace!

    • The traditional way is the only reason the religion and the culture has survived for all these thousands of years. It is the only way in which it CAN survive in the future. Now if only everyone could grasp this simple truth.

    • Good on you for starting this petition. Far too many people think that they can just come up with new variations to our religion everyday. Hope this can put some sense into the BPP.

    • A Race has preserved its identity through 3 holocaust and a chronic struggle not to get fused into a highly religo centric demography. No one has the right to change this identity just as no one has the right to change the identity of small tribes , be in the mountains of ladhak, or the islands of Andamans or countries like UAE.

    • Since when has religion and religious laws been up for voting? They are divinely revealed and cannot be tampered with. We have no authority to discuss / debate / modify long standing traditions and customs. This is a priceless legacy handed down to us from our ancestors. The least we can do is to preserve, protect and pass them on to our next generation intact. The people who desire change are the ones who are ignorant as regards our tenets and customs and wish to modify them for their own convenience.

    • The truth remains the truth - that a Zoroastrian is one born of Zoroastrian parents. Just because a large number of people shout in opposition to this tenet, the truth will not change!

    • Whilst there is every risk that our religion may become extinct in generations to come, we cannot let go our legacy of traditions and customs just to appease the whims and fancies of a few hundred, or may be even thousands. We need to strive to preserve and uphold our customs and traditions, for which our forefathers have made tremendous sacrifices to uphold! Go Jimmy Boy, go!! The key is for our learned Vada Dasturjis to stand up, speak out and take the appropriate action, rather than the Trustees of the BPP!

    • My Ancestors gave their very lives in order for me to be here today and to raise my own family to be able to continue to practice this wonderful religion of ours. If "others" wish to change the religion to suit their personal needs, tell them to create their own and leave mine as it is!

    • I'm proud to be a Zoroastrian and am sad that people who are not proud to be zoroastrians as clearly they marry out of the religion are out to take away the one thing I cherish... Being born a Mazdayasni Zarthosti and being known as one. What about my rights?
