The signers of this petition agree that the 1939 Art Deco/Moderne Trylon Theater (98-81 Queens Blvd, Forest Hills, NY) is one of the last standing structures which has a strong cultural, historical, & architectural significance to the 1939 Worldвs Fair, with its вTrylon & Perisphereв monuments. On behalf of residents and historical societies, it is of utmost importance to halt further demolition, restore what was lost during the conversion, preserve this icon, and officially landmark this truly rare gem of a theater!!!

    • The Art Moderne theater should be preserved, including all its wonderful original features. As leader of project to save Philadelphia's Art Deco movie palace (www.FriendsOfTheBoyd.org), I can tell you it is important & you won't regret saving it. You will regret losing it. Howard B Haas

    • The Trylon is an architectural gem, worthy of being landmarked. I am, as an architect, left breathless by images of its majestic auditorium and its historical art deco interior and exterior. New York City has lost too many moments in history of this sort. Please do not let that happen to the Trylon. Why, even its name is suggestive of the part it has in the culture of this city. Also, consider that the borough of Queens deserves worthy landmarks, too.

    • It's extremely disappointing that a true landmark is being thoughtlessly thrown in the wastebasket. Even the slightest bit of effort could have re-cycled at least the historic facede, if not the theater itself, into a community center of visual distinction and uniqueness.
