Dear Sir,
We thank you for trying to help the Tsunami relief work by organizing a 'Tsunami Charity match'. We hope that it will bring some solace to the effected families.
Our primary concern is regarding the utilization of the proceeds. It has been mentioned in your brochures and website that the proceeds would be donated to 'World Vision International'. We would like to bring to your attention that World Vision is an evangelical ministry often found to mix 'religious conversion and charity'. One of the India's leading investigative newspaper 'Tehelka' (www.tehelka.com) did an undercover operation and exposed that World vision has been involved in clandestine religious conversion. World Vision International on its website claims "In all World Vision projects, staff are ready to give a reason for their hope and their labours. Christian education is included in project activities whenever appropriate and desired by the community ". Many feel that this is a very mild way to put forth their objective.
The effected regions are largely Budhist, Hindu and Muslim. Due to the extreme zeal among evanglicals to implement 'project Joshua' (i.e., to convert 10-40 Window), we fear that the Cricket Match proceeds may be used for this unintended objective. Therefore we request you not to donate to the money to 'World Vision' and in turn donate to some local secular charities.
Thank you

- All of us should rise against these prevailing condtions where people of the lower economic and social strata of the Hindu society are lured into conversion to christianity(sic) with false assurances of 'finding the one true god'(sic), thus explioting them and playing with their faith.. This HIDDEN WAR is to be met with intelligent and proper response without the Hindus losing their cool. Please support in whichever way possible.

- Mr. Speed, please be more deferential and sensitive to the sentiments of the vast multitude of Hindus who are also enthusiastic supporters of cricket, and thus provide for your bread and butter and your professional career. If you don't respond t6o this petition positively, then all the tens of thousands of Hindus/Indians with self-pride everywhere will boycott the second match scheduled in February, and thus undermine the very purpose of this fund-raising event.

- WorldVision takes 14% off the top as "overhead" before they even start "program expenditure" - a ripoff by any measure. $1M collected? $140K to its operators in Federal Way, an expensive suburb of Seattle-Tacoma.

- Please don't help the vulturous organization to prey on our simple minded Hindustanis by hidden deceitful activities. Rather help to save our own cultural and religion from evangelicals. World vision has a hidden agenda of conversion behind their service to humanity.

- The compassaion and initiative to serve throug cricket is commendable and must be supported. ICC, however, needs an education of world affairs and be cautioned about taking advantage of sports fans to serve the designs of Christian conversion against vulnerable disaster stricken people.

- Raising funds for those in need is good, but when these funds are used to promote a particular religion, and ask someone to change their fundamental beliefs, we must think otherwise. The funds should be donated to a charity that will undoubtedly use them for the common wellbeing of ALL, regardless of race or creed. UNICEF or the Red Cross are such organizations.
