Dear Sir,
We thank you for trying to help the Tsunami relief work by organizing a 'Tsunami Charity match'. We hope that it will bring some solace to the effected families.
Our primary concern is regarding the utilization of the proceeds. It has been mentioned in your brochures and website that the proceeds would be donated to 'World Vision International'. We would like to bring to your attention that World Vision is an evangelical ministry often found to mix 'religious conversion and charity'. One of the India's leading investigative newspaper 'Tehelka' (www.tehelka.com) did an undercover operation and exposed that World vision has been involved in clandestine religious conversion. World Vision International on its website claims "In all World Vision projects, staff are ready to give a reason for their hope and their labours. Christian education is included in project activities whenever appropriate and desired by the community ". Many feel that this is a very mild way to put forth their objective.
The effected regions are largely Budhist, Hindu and Muslim. Due to the extreme zeal among evanglicals to implement 'project Joshua' (i.e., to convert 10-40 Window), we fear that the Cricket Match proceeds may be used for this unintended objective. Therefore we request you not to donate to the money to 'World Vision' and in turn donate to some local secular charities.
Thank you

- World Vision is not the most suitable candidate to receive this money. Try UNICEF.

- It is very essential that the funds are dirrected to the right NGO. We do not want the relief work from this funds to be operated by a Christian organisation.

- In the aftermath of this terrible Tsunami disaster, there should be sensible decision making and please help the needy but not using an outfit intent on religious conversion.

- A lot of Christian missionaries are converting Hindu people to Christianity, So why are you giving them yet another opportunity to do the same. Why don't the charities do their work selflessly, without expecting anything in return, like converting people to their beliefs. Shame on such charities and double shame on organisers who organise events to give them the boost, they should not be given. When will the organisers LEARN!!!!!!

- The raised funds should be sent to secular organizations such as UNICEF and the Red Cross, not to religious organizations such as World Vision which seeks to convert those when they are most vunerable. This is not the time to promote religious conversion!!!

- Donations should go to everyone irrespective of their religious beliefs. Come on people this is not the time to think/impose one's religious people upon another. Every human being is created equally.

- I agree that the concern expressed in this petition is genuine and match proceed should be handed over to local governments or secular charity organisations.

- A charitable organization with lower overhead and without the ulterior motive to convert should be selected. World Vision's annual report (http://www.wvi.org/wvi/pdf/2003%20Annual%20Review.pdf Page 13) shows that their overhead is 19.2 % (100 - 80.8) and they spent $198 million in "International Ministry" and $122 million for fund raising. Their Mission and Core Values on page 16 make it clear they are Xtian faith-based.

- Christian Missionaries are trying to impose base less christianity on the people. The Ancient Hindu Culture is having so many scentific reason. There are evidences where in u can even find out TSUNAMI sort of things also using the Vedic Astrological calculations. But due to the Christian Education people are not able to find out all these. Lord Krishna has warned all the people of Dwaraka to vacate before he assumed a TSUNAMI. Now Dwaraka city and temple is under the sea of Arabia.
