The UCI has changed the rules about wearing the National Champions Jersey. They have changed it so that any Natiional Champs HAVE to wear the jersey in ALL timed runs and on the podium. This is where riders get most of their exposure. The problem with this is that the National Champs jersey has very little room for sponsors. Sponsors won't want to give a rider money if they can't get exposure when the rider is seen the most, on the podium.
Hopefully if we get enough signatures, we can get this changed.

    • How can you possibly consider this to be a positive move over the armbands? I seriously doubt that riders will throw races to avoid the jersey but this decision is detrimental to the sport. You are hampering the best riders out there. Riders that people look to for inspiration and therfore product placement - without this level of advertising how can you expect the sport to progress following, what can be assumed will be, a drop in income.

    • If riders must wear the National Jersey I will instruct my riders not to win, or not to even show up. Then you have a National Chump instead of Champ....demeans the National Championship title when top riders don't race or race halfheartedly. Sponsors pay the teams to pay the riders, they need to get the jersey exposure. Arm Bands!

    • I feel that this ruling will reduce sponsorship image and will make them reluctant to sponsor riders and shrink the sport. Also if riders are forced to forfeit the national champs because their sponsors need the coverage on their jersey throughout the UCI events then it will make the national champs a complete farce as quite a few of the top riders in the country will be forced not to race
