We the undersigned OPPOSE the proposed Montrose/Clarendon mega-development, including the 39-story skyscraper (498 feet tall), the 30-story skyscraper (407 feet tall), the private condos on Clarendon Park, the giant parking garage, and the other buildings and commercial facilities to be jammed into this very small space. We OPPOSE the zoning ordinance changes which would allow this development to be built, and we OPPOSE the enlargement of the existing Maryville planned development for the Lakeview Station planned development in the proposed Montrose/Clarendon TIF.
We feel that the proposed development provides no community benefit in return for a large giveaway to the developers, and would in fact harm the community. It is at least ten times larger in scale than the surrounding buildings and would overshadow and dwarf the contiguous residential and small-business areas. Parking would become much more difficult and traffic backups much worse. It is out of character with Uptown's Clarendon Park and Buena Park neighborhoods and with the vision of the majority of Uptown residents.

- It's a terrible plan, bad for the neighborhood. It seems the alderman cares more about wealthy developers than the people she was elected to represent.

- This structure does not belong in this neighborhood, it does not suit the Uptown demographic, and is a waste of taxpayer funds and land in this era of recession. The white suburbanite male developers who are promoting this project have no common ground with the area residents, and have demonstrated clearly that they are not interested in creating any. Uptown is too diverse for any effective computer-based modeling.

- This project will take away all our sunlight and bring noise and air pollution to my home

- Uptown cannot support more mismanaged TIF funds for a development that is not sustainable by this community. Many residents are low income, parking is scarce, and the proposed retail (grocery and gym) already exist in near proximity. In short, this development DOES NOT MAKE SENSE and will only harm the community if developed as proposed.

- It's true, this development is far too big for the area and would really put a strain on the area with parking , road traffic and foot traffic. not to mention that it will cast a giant shadow over Clarendon Park. i live 2 blocks away on Windsor ave. and I'm sure that traffic will increase on my block from this and my street is barely big enough for 1 car at a time to drive down. As a resident of the neighborhood I feel like I have not had a chance to have any sasy in this matter and since my tax dollars will be going toward this for the next several years, I think I should.

- The amount of the TIF money for Clarendon Park is way too low. Inadequate parking facilities; one space per condo is definitely not adequate. Too many questions left unanswered.

- I am strongly opposed to this. Our family moved into the neighborhood last Fall. Altho our home is lovely, we've been grossly misled by the local government concerning a number of issues -- moreso in the last 8 months than any concerns we had in the 23 years we lived in our home on the Northwest side.

- Another TIF is the last thing we need in the 46th ward. As a resident, I am appalled by the secretive way this has been handled and the lack of transparency from the alerman's office.
