Say NO to Killer Coke!

We, the undersigned members of the University of Massachusetts Amherst community, demand that the University rescind its exclusive pouring rights contract with the Coca-Cola Company.

Overwhelming evidence finds the Coca-Cola Company responsible for a litany of environmental, labor and human rights abuses and crimes in communities around the world. These abuses include the grossly irresponsible drainage and pollution of public groundwater in India; the complicity of Coca-Cola bottlers in the torture, kidnap and murder of union members in Colombia; high levels of cancer-causing agents and high levels of pesticide in Dasani Water, Coke and Vitamin Water which led to government recalls in the UK and India. Coca-Cola continues to evade responsibility and accountability for its actions.
Therefore we stand in solidarity with a growing number of colleges, universities and organizations worldwide, including our sister campuses Smith College and Hampshire College, that have chosen alternatives to Coca-Cola.

    • We need to separate PUBLIC Education from PRIVATE business. Education is the Key, but Privatization and Corporatization of our public schools are destroying the fundamental piece of our society, and preventing thousands of young people from gaining access to the KEY.
