The Honorable Members of the Congress of the United States,
We the undersigned people are frankly fed up with partisan bickering and irresponsible behavior regarding the energy policy of this nation. We wholeheartedly support a massive unprecedented investment into alternative fuels and energy. We however feel that the Congress has been hijacked by radical environmentalists; we further believe that the recent ridiculous fuel costs have been a boon to these groups un-American, anti-capitalistic agendas. Again, we entirely support the massive unprecedented investment in alternative, clean and environmentally sound energy and fuels. However, since Congress and the private sector didnt start these initiatives decades ago, they are still decades from fruition, and we need our trucks to be able to deliver food to our supermarkets now, our citizens need to be able to commute to work now, and not have to decided whether to fill their tanks or put food on the table. We simply dont have the alternatives in place to fill this gap in energy supply with anything other than oil at this time.
It is time to tap into the United States' MASSIVE crude oil and natural gas reserves. The simple announcement of raising our production for domestic use would send shockwaves through the market, the price of crude would drop immediately. Let us be clear, that we believe we need to end our addiction to foreign oil and oil as a form of energy, but let us also be clear that we will not tolerate being held captive by nations that dont like us for our immediate energy needs when we have enormous reserves right here in our own nation. Let us lend our unwavering support to a new energy policy, one that allows exploration and production of domestic reserves, but only does so with the strictest environmental standards, and the quid pro quo that this Government and our private industry will enter into an endeavor to revolutionize clean renewable energy, in the same manner that our nation was able to put a man on the moon in only nine short years with a mere fraction of the scientific and economic prowess that we now enjoy.
We will not tolerate arguments from pandering members of congress with the premise that any solution on both the domestic oil production front and the alternative energy front is so far off that it isnt worth it. This is what the American People have been told for the past twenty years, imagine if we had invested in this two decades ago, there would be no energy crises and we would be on our way to a more environmentally sound nation as a whole.
The bottom line is this nation needs oil and we will need it until we have a viable alternative, we need the viable alternative as soon as possible, but it isnt happening in time to stop supermarket riots when the truckers stop driving, it isnt happening in time to help the common American at the gas pump. So we are saying, give it all to us, put the unparalleled American ingenuity to work and get us alternatives, but while were working on it, we can become largely independent from our own reserves. We can stop getting our energy from over there, and start getting it from here, where we will put Americans to work, help a faltering economy and bring security to our own nation.
WE WANT OR OWN OIL NOW!
