The Erie County Legislator will vote to override County Executive Giambra's veto of an apprenticeship law requiring all bidders on County construction projects to have a NYSDOL certified apprenticeship program.
This law will SEVERELY restrict competitive bidding on County construction projects, resulting in higher construction costs.
The undersigned encourage ALL Erie County Legislators to VOTE AGAINST overriding the veto. We believe Erie County is in no position to pay more for construction projects, and there is a way to ensure training for future workers, while not restricting competition and increasing costs.

- The law will reduce competition and increase construction cost without providing a benefit to Erie County citizens

- I don't want to pay for a state sponsored apprentice program to teach young contractors how to do their work. If a someone wants to learn a trade, there are plenty of people who haven't left NYS for greener pastures out there who will show them how to do a day's work for a day's pay without an NYS program.

- We are witnessing the implosion of county government. If this passes you all have proven where your priorities are and it is not with the people.

- I now live in AZ, my home has increased in value approx 12\% a year. Business/People are thriving here. If I had stayed, I wouldn't be working for Intell.

- I left NY several years ago. I've never been able to regret my decision. I've been too busy enjoying AZ and it's thriving economy. Opportunity, growth, potential is alive and available, striking contrast to the old status quo in WNY.

- One daughter teaching in Saint Petersburg, Florida....anothe son working for PCB Peiziotronics (headquartered in Depew) in Roanoake Rapids, North Carolina. Now I'll give you one guess why his company expanded in North Carolina instead of WNY??....you guessed it.....HIGH TAXES.. Just keep it up King Joel and King George PaTAXi....all these UNION FRIENDLY and TAXPAYER UNFRIENDLY rules/laws. Me? I bought my retirement home in Seminole, Florida this past October. Like so many others...in just a few short years I will be singing "goodbye New York and goodbye high taxes!!"
