Stop the susspended licenses and incarceration for unpaid tickets. In Washington State, local police departments are running plates in parking lots, driveways, to see who comes up susspended. Then they stalk you and wait until you leave to pull you over and either write you over a $1000.00 dollars worth of tickets, impound your car, then take you to jail. Nevermind any real crime going on in the nieghborhood.

Then you get turned into AllianceOne Accounts Recievables with interest rates and fees so high that your grandchilren are going to end up with the debt because it never lowers. It always remains the same balance.

There has got to be a better way than putting such hardship on families. Driving is a privilage and is not suppossed to have a price put on it.

Jails are letting sex offenders and real crime go to jail DWLS-3.

Please help stop the stripping of innocent, hard working families.

    • I agree they have done it to me and all i have been doing was going to work to try to pay them their money to get my license back but they won't accept payments i have to pay all in full it is almost impossible to even get my license back because of that they should require the state to have a relicenseing program or something, they treat dwls 3rd degree for unpaid tickets like you are a drug dealer or murderer it is ridiculous.

    • The hardships that families are facing now is devastating. But even if the economy was good and we had a job paying a living wage, the huge interest that has been attached to unpaid tickets amounts to usury. When Shakespeare wrote about Shylock he had no idea that our governments would use the same tactics. The exorbitant interest rates should be eliminated retroactively and notices should be sent to remind citizens of their obligations. That is the least that should be done.

    • Missing a court date on a no front plate displayed should not result in driving privelages suspended.

    • FOR everybodies sake have two friends sign the petition also. Remember a small group of committed people can change the world. So we should have no problem changing the rediculous law designed to generate revenue or at least accounts receivable . The only thing this law is doing is putting people further into debt and keeping people from working legally . Do they really think that suspending one's license because of debt help's anyone . This law has nothing to do with bad driving habits . Feel free to contact me on this matter

    • war on the poor is what convicting persons over and over. court cost and fines told to pay reguardless income. minimal payments whether persons can afford or not. how about amnesty for those who need a license as part of their skilled trade. maybe then payments would be met?give me a break not another ticket burying me further into debt!

    • im a single dad of 4 with a career , i have never had a license due to i cant catch up with 3 tickets, it hurts bad to fail based on my city "Spokane" raising revenue rather than lowering crime. giving licenses back to people with old tickets IS THE WAY TO RAISE REVENUE. TAKE IT AWAY FROM THE FELON's WHO CANT BE TRUSTED is another way to stop crime and raise revenue.
