Remove the Tolls from Highway 407

We the citizens of Ontario wish to express our disgust at the present situation with the 407 highway and are doing so by collectively signing this petition.. The tolls and charges have exceeded an acceptable period of time by a long shot and at the same time the interest rates on the late charges are truly outrageous. It is the governments responsibility to do whatever it takes to have this system changed and the highway made free to use. We feel that weve been taken advantage of by the owners of the highway for much too long. Happy citizens are good citizens. The same citizens who may or may not vote this party back in come the next term based on its performance in this term. Make us happy by doing this for us. After all, it is the right thing to do.

    • For the costs too construct it , I would bet (my bottom dollar) that it has been paid for it's self several times over already, Now is once more the gravy , being picked up by the Govt', while taking advantage of the fact the when this Northern Highway was to be constructed and put in I don't believe hearing about a TOLL situation at that time.

    • High gasoline taxes in Ontario are intended to pay for highway maintenance and to avoid tolls. A temporary toll to assist in new highway construction costs may be acceptable if voters collectively agree. A private toll highway is not acceptable. Highway 407 must be returned to the public domain. Ontarians are NOT customers of the Conservative Party of Ontario and its friends and should not be treated as such.

    • We can petition until the cows come home but it won't do any good. Our politians have become better than thou and all of them know better than us. I am totally disgusted with how this deal was conducted without any consent of the tax payer. But you know what? It doesn't matter who you put in, they are all cut from the same bolt of cloth.

    • the cost to use this hwy is outrageous as well as the administration costs they charge. I am on a small pension and this makes it impossible for me to use t his hwy. as usual the little guy gets the shaft again.
