Commercial whaling has been happening since the 1800's. It was officially banned 1986, but that hasn't stopped many countries killing these innocent mammals. Many Japanese boats are whaling in Australian waters but the Australian government needs to put down their foot make a stand against these murders.
Many whale species are becoming endangered and risk becoming extinct.
Humpback whales could have numbered 1.5 million prior to the onset of commercial whaling in the 1800s. The humpback whales currently number only 20,000.
The blue whales of the Antarctic are at less than 1 percent of their original abundance, despite 40 years of complete protection. Some populations of whales are recovering but some are not.
The West Pacific grey whale population is the most endangered in the world. It hovers on the edge of extinction with just over 100 remaining.
These countries mask their action with the poor excuse for whaling as scientific research. But the whale meat business in Japan is booming. Whale meat is a delicacy. The whale blubber is often used to make cosmetics and the bones are famously used in old-fashioned corsetry.
Please sign our petition which we intend to send to the Australian government as an attempt to lower commercial whaling in our waters.
Thank you,

- Please stop all whaling in and near Australian Waters. how can we have any hope in the big problems that mankind faces in the future if we cannot even resolve this issue. If there is a lack of humanity in our laws then we have no hope
