Given the growing threat of another federally-driven attack on Albertas resources and economy, along with the impending federal Kyoto plan and possible trade conflicts with the United States, many Albertans are expecting another program like the devistating National Energy Program to be introduced by the Canadian federal government. Given the memory of the impact of that policy, along with the reputation of the current federal government, there is an underlying fear that history shall repeat. Therefore, we the citizens of Alberta request that your government, at the first evidence of negative impact on Albertas economy by a federal policy, begin the process of conducting a provincial referendum with separation from the confederation of Canada being the single issue.

    • It would be hard to believe that a LIBERAL government such as Kleins' would have the moxie to actually protect Albertan's from the interests of other Canadians going against their political masters the Federal LIEBERALS, yet hope springs eternal (at least until next election). I would hope that if the PCPA has the intestinal fortitude (and not in image only but rather substance) I would be willing to suggest many would change their vote next election from moving to the AA and back again to the PCPA. I am pretty certain though that the PCPA shall sell us out to Ottawa as they have for many years starting with Lougheed signing the constitution and allowing the GST under the guise of being "Canadian". IF Canadian means raping and pillaging your provinces for the "common good" then it is no more than communism and as such should be forthwith rejected in an immediate referendum on the subject.

    • I don't think giving a petition to Ralph is the answer because he is certainly not serving in of to benefit Albertans. It's just time to get someone else in there to do the job and protect Alberta and Albertans from Ottawa and the easterners.It's long past time for any discussions or negotiations.
