Anthrocon '06 Rescheduling

We, the undersigned, in the interest of all potential student attendants of Anthrocon 2006, request that the event be rescheduled until after June. The currently scheduled dates of June 15-18 will prevent a large majority of student artists from attending in 2006, due to the fact that most finals and exams take place during or very near these dates.

We understand the magnitude of a rescheduling, and do not take the matter lightly, however, in the interest of both Anthrocon and the mentioned group of attendants, such action would be advantageous to all who is involved. The great, and not to be underestimated drop in attendance numbers that will result in the current scheduling, will not only hurt those who will not be able to make it, but Anthrocon as a whole. Much less funding will be provided, considering the great number of those who will not be registering. We understand, also, that the new and earlier scheduled dates are as a result of problems with availability regarding the new location (the David L. Lawrence Convention Center of Pittsburgh, PA).

We are in hopes that a rescheduling, and temporary relocating (if necessary) will be taken into consideration.

    • I almost attended 2005, but I had too many money problems that inhibit me going But I wont give up. I was looking foreward to next year, but after being infored from Adele *the author of this petition and an AWESOME friend (3* of the new schedule of 2006. My school year usually ends on the 15 only when we dont use up all our snowdays, and that usually rarely happens. I dont want to miss AC just because I still exist in evil school. This is my senior year coming up and I dont want 2006 to be another killed chance. If you dont realized but if you undergo next year keeping this new dates, you WILL have a amazing drop of attendees, making you more money hungry. This move is not wise and logical. Dont hold a convention FOR the people that will inhibit their ability for them to go. This is our convention that you are operating and providing for us. If it werent for us you would have no AC so at least lend an ear to us. Its not that hard. So MANY others and I SUGGEST you change a date that is suitable for EVERYONE.
