Gala Bingo in Crystal Palace has closed down.
An independent cinema company is interested in developing the site as a cinema for the Crystal Palace community.
This exciting opportunity is under threat, as a church organisation intends to purchase the site.
We, the undersigned, want a CINEMA at the site.

- This church is for a very narrow section of the population from outside of SE19. It will bring nothing to the area and cause chaos every week. A cinema benefits EVERYONE locally. DON'T WASTE THIS CHANCE.

- A cinema in Crystal Palace triangle would benefit the whole of the local community and help with the revivial of Chuch Road. There are already several initiatives by locals to revive the road and a local cinema would complement the hard work being done to help existing retailers and attract new ones.

- Although I have no objection to churches in general, I do not feel that they will help the economic development of the area - whereas a cinema will. Further, a large church with a congregation taking up parking spaces in the town may well be detrimental to local business.

- We already have five churches in the area including a pentecostal one, so there is no planning need for more. The area does not have the infrastructure to support a large church, and it would be a detriment to the regeneration of the area. Given there is a cinema chain interested in the site under its current usuage as a D2 building proves that it is a viable site, and one which should therefore be retained as a D2 for the regenerative effect it will have on the local area and the benefits it will bring to the local community.

- Just what the area needs, will help improve turnover at restaurants and bars - and would be well supported by locals

- I strongly support the campaign for a cinema at Crystal Palace - I would love to have a local cinema and would make a huge effort to support and use it, if it was built!

- City Screens work with young people, older people, and mothers etc...it would be a massive gain for the WHOLE community, and a turning point for Crystal Palace when it come to more footfall, and more interest from retail. Its a prime spot, that shouldnt be taken by a church.

- A good cinema will be an inclusive offering for our whole, diverse community in Crystal Palace. The proposed church by definition will only serve people subscribing to its specific blend of the Christian faith and as such will add little value to local community life.

- Would be an excellent asset to the area and would surely be a very successful enterprise considering the catchment area.
