We, the homeowners of America, frustrated at the slow implementation of the Home Affordable Modification Program and Home Affordable Refinance Program, do hereby petition the United States Government to respond to our concerns and take action to address them.

Certain guidelines appear to prohibit many of the homeowners with the greatest need from participating in these programs. Namely these are homeowners with:
Private Mortgage Insurance;
More than one mortgage on our home;
Significant loss of our equity;
Loss of our jobs;
Lower credit scores due to greater financial burdens associated with the current economic climate.

In addition, cooperation by mortgage lenders has been limited, with the process unclear and untimely, and in many cases their decisions seem to be in conflict with the guidelines posted on the makinghomeaffordable.gov Web site. Many of us believe we are eligible for these programs only to be told by our lender that we are not.

As our elected officials, we request that you establish a channel through which homeowner feedback can be posted and lender accountability measured.

Through you, our voices must be heard!

    • Bank of America is unbelievable! I have called them numerous times, only to be told I don't qualify for any programs. I don't get it. And they never give answers WHY I don't qualify.

    • Time for the banks to start helping people the same way they've been helped by the Goverment. Pass it along.

    • I am unable to refinance my primary mortgage (5-year ARM) because my much smaller Home Equity Loan is underwater, and I can't afford to pay the difference. It will be interesting when my primary turns into a pumpkin in July, 2010.

    • I can not believe the run around Bank of America is giving us. Why are they stalling in helping us when they have already received the federal funding??? Do they want us on the streets?? This can't be what the president intended. Why do these banks not have to answer to anyone? PLEASE HELP US! I don't want to be homeless.

    • I have done all the requirements for modification, made the 3 months trial period payments, even made 4th payment still not receiving the final modication from lender. The lenders doesn't seems like to help the homeowners, they don't care after all they had already gotten the bail out money. they are busy investing that bail out money into something that can make more money instead helping homeowners to stay in their home. As far as we know there so many of us homeonwers already finished those trial; period payments but never received the final modification yet, so what are lenders waiting for? Are they waiting for President Obama to sign the final modification documents for each and every homeowners? I don't think so. So, what taking them so long to get it done. Mr. President we need you to preasure these lenders the home modification we deserves.

    • I have contacted Bank of America several times regarding refinancing my home only to be told that I don't qualify for the program. I have never been late on my mortgage and my home has lost value. I am never given a reason why I don't qualify. Something needs to be done!!!!!!

    • Bank of America has taken us Ginnie Mae insured homeowners to wiping out our savings and more. Now we have no more resources and credit scores tarnished because now we have a late payment reported. Please show us our elected officials truly are concerned with stopping foreclosure and put an emergency moratorium on foreclosure and make participation mandatory of the lenders with the modification programs.

    • We are caught up in this mess of refinancing and are ready to stop making payments on our house, take the money we will save and walk away. Forecloser who cares if it happens. Owning a home is not the American dream anymore. The dream is just trying to keep a roof over your head !
