We, the undersigned, are requesting the State of Alabama to enact an infertility insurance mandate. Currently, 15 states in the U.S. are required to offer or treat infertility. These mandates were designed to make conception more affordable (and less emotionally draining) to the 1 of 6 couples that struggle with the problem. Furthermore, in these mandated states, infertility treatments are more successful and less risky for the mother and child. Without the assistance of insurance to pay for treatments ranging from medications to IVF, many people will never experience the joy of pregnancy, childbirth, or watching their child grow.

    • A mandate is safer for mother and child (physically and emotionally) and is a nominal cost to other insurance subscribers

    • My husband and I are trying to have a baby, I just found out today that the only way I will ba able to get pregnant is to have the IVF procedure. Since my insurance does not cover any part of this I will not be able to have a child.. I think this should be covered by all insurance companies because there are so many couples who are trying to conceive but can't without the help of special procedures, and then can't because of the cost of them..

    • My children were conceived with "medical/reproductive assistance". My insurance did cover SOME aspects of my treatment but not all. With my second pregnancy, I was very close to having to do IVF. And we would have had to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket that we really could not pay. Insurance companies in Alabama and across the nation will pay for men to fill a prescription for Viagra so they may experience sexual pleasure and will pay for teenagers and women to have abortions because they just don't want to be bothered with the responsibility of having a child. Please help those of us who WANT to have a child and can not do so on our own.

    • i think this should be covered, so many people want kids but cant have them natural, and this is the only way to have a child, but the cost prevents them from being parents, i believe if the dr has diagnosed a fertility problem, then those people have a right to have a child , and insurance should pay thanks

    • Infertility is a real disease that does affect every single aspect of a persons life. It should be treated as such, it ought to have insurance coverage, funds for research, and people should have access to treatment just like any other disease.

    • Insurance companies should be paying for the Infertility procedures for couples who really want children. If you can pay for Viagra, abortions and other things of this nature, I feel helping someone conceive a WANTED CHILD is a BLESSING!
