Angry IP Scanner is a very popular tool for network monitoring. It is being used by network administrators all over the world. It is featured in many magazine articles and other publications on security.

The program is very lightweight and unobtrusive (a user may just download and run it - no installation is needed). The full source code is available under the GPL license for anyone to review - there are no viruses or trojans.

Anti-virus software vendors (currently Symantec and McAfee), please stop considering it as a malware ('hacktool', 'potentionally unwanted program', etc). The users of both your anti-virus software and Angry IP Scanner are very disappointed about the removal of the program they actually need and use.

There is really no reason for doing that with Angry IP Scanner.

    • I use this program at least 20 times a day. Perhaps anti-virus vendors should concern themselves more with detecting all those malware sites that put fake anti-virus programs on the computers I have to deal with many times instead of valuable tools to an IT professional.

    • Angry IP scanner should absolutely not be flagged as malware. That doesn't even make sense.
