Ms. Van Anker,

In regard to your recent and humane proposal for mandatory birth control in extreme cases, we offer you this international online petition of support. Others seek soft and fuzzy solutions that do not work, but merely appease voters and make people feel like they are doing good, while millions continue to suffer. You, on the other hand, are one of the few public officials in the world who are doing their job. You are in charge of public health and security, and have proposed a real plan to improve those qualities of life. The cycle of drugs, gangs, forced prostitution, violence and hatred must be stopped. It is for the good of the children who would be born into those vicious worlds and for others who are harmed or endangered by the growing presence that gangs have caused in their once safe communities.

You are not the first to propose the idea that preventing unwanted pregnancies for unfit mothers could raise the quality of life by lowering the growth of the criminal population. Many liberals as well as moderates in the United States have had this debate for years. They have received some criticism, but I believe you have received unparalleled criticism for merely mentioning race. You did say these problems especially apply to the Aruban and Antillean communities, but I do not believe that is necessarily "racist." I believe it is merely an uncomfortable truth that certain social problems exist more prominently in certain sections of society. Your policy of seeking mandatory birth control for mentally handicapped, HIV positive, or abusive people would lend the greatest help to those who are most affected by these problems. This is not a policy of hatred; it is compassionate.

Please continue to speak your mind and seek the truth and may others follow your bold example.
