Myself and other fans are beginning to notice the declining quality of the Cartoon Network Australia (also spanning other nations such as New Zealand), and it is beginning to become a concern, especially for older fans.

Since the abolishment of the Toonami block in 2005 and the Adult swim block in late 2007, the network has been almost completely void of anime or adult-orientated cartoons.

The comedy channel has since picked up the adult swim name and is showing 3 of the several dropped William street shows, though this is far from enough.

We, as fans from an older demographic demand the return of anime such as Bleach, Death Note and air gear, plus re-runs of such classics as Neon genesis: evangelion, Trigun and Yu Yu Hakusho. The Cartoon network needs to acknowledge us as viewers and should provide us with the same, if not better coverage of anime as their U.S. counterpart.

The Adult swim block has since been replaced with re-runs of shows such as Naruto and Ben 10, and whilst they obviously garner younger viewers, one must scrutinize how many of the younger demographic are able to stay up between 10:30PM to 1:00AM at night. It is widely believed that a block of anime or adult-orientated cartoons would be a far more suitable option in this time slot.

We hope that the response to this petition is enough to guide the Cartoon Network Australia executives in the right direction and hopefully their blatant ignorance of their fan base will cease if they see that they can think for themselves and not all their viewers are children.

    • Come on, this is ridiculous. We've done a complete 180 in the last 4 years. We've gone from making everything more "Adult" friendly, to ruining everything by making it exclusively for the kids. What the hell do Adults have anymore, huh?

    • I agree, I think shows like Death Note and Air gear should appear back on Australian Tv, usually my kids don't stay up til 11:00pm

    • I miss watching toonami when I was younger, now it's like I can only watch it on DVD. It's just isn't fair, and what ever happened to adult swim? It was funny and entertaining and there was no reason to remove, please do what you can to help bring back Adult Swim and Anime.

    • Late night anime was a part of my childhood, weirdly enough. Neon Genesis Evangelion, Orphen, Trigun... extremely nostalgic. It would be great to see more anime. Not even SBS has anything, aside the ocassional movie. ABC2 has Death Note, Sci-Fi channel has Rurouni Kenshin. There's nothing available elsewhere.

    • Get your act together and stop stuffing around with the only show I bother watching on your channel, which is Dragonball! Ever since you took off Adult Swim, you've been in a downward spiral.

    • Stupid idea to take away adult orientated cartoons. Probabaly lost a lot of viewers and ratings because of it, 100\% support bringing it back.

    • I agree. I am almost 14 and would like to see some more of the 13-15years age range animes on Australian tv. Like Death Note, Code Geass, Bleach, Black Cat, D Gray Man the works! I am really annoyed about this and not to mention, you guys are showing some really strange things in the adult time slots. I mean, seriously, Dragon Ball at 9:00pm?! You have got to be kidding me! What 5-10 year old kid would even be awake at that time, let alone able to access the tv. It's only fair that there is something available for people my age group and above who are actually awake at those times. Please bring back adult swim. It's ridiculous to have such a childish selection of anime to watch at such a time in the evening. I suggest adult swim on a Saturday night starting at 8:30pm until around 3;00am is an appropriate time for adult cartoons. Please bring back our anime!!

    • please put more anime on, I'm sure you must have noticed a decline in viewers when you took away toonami and adult swim. If you put more anime on you'd get those viewers back.
