As a member of the Washington Redskins, Art Monk broke the mark for most catches in a season (106 in '84), shattered the record for most catches in a career (passing Steve Largent in '92) and set the standard for most consecutive games with a catch (164 straight). The man won three Super Bowls and went to three Pro Bowls. It's rumored that he never dropped a pass, and it's a fact that he played with dignity and class.

While similar (or perhaps lesser) receivers such as James Lofton, Charlie Joiner, Lynn Swann and John Stallworth reside in the cozy confines of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, it's Monk who has been shut out by the selection committee every year since becoming eligible in '01. It's time to right a wrong. As Redskins fans, as football fans, we implore you to support ElectArtMonk.com and it's mission to get #81 into the place he so rightfully deserves.

    • Every other eligible all time receptions leader is in the HOF. That alone is reason enough to induct Monk.

    • I have been waiting for several years for Mr. Monk to be voted in... still waiting? Please note that this is not a regional vote, but a national vote, as I reside in the west coast, California specifically. Anyhow, hope he gets in soon.

    • There is no disputing the fact that he was one of the most important factors in 3 SB wins over a long and illustrious career, which ended with Art Monk as the All-time receptions leader. But the sad fact is that this is clearly the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Greatness where popularity and media darlingness is a much bigger factor than on the field production and quality.

    • Despite the efforts of a few media members who have consistently shown a bias against him, Art Monk is one of the most deserving players currently eligible for the Hall of Fame. He never embarassed himself, his team, or the league. He was never arrested for anything, and gave back to the community. Surely he should go in before someone with "flashier" numbers, but who has been arrested for drugs.

    • Name 1 receiver in the hall with more catches than Monk. That should be enough of an argument but, there's more much more. Monk was more than a great receiver he was a great football player. And he should be honored alongside the other great football players. I hope to 1 day take my 2 boys to the hall of fame to see all the greatest players that have played this great game. But, I refuse to go until the greatest football player at the wide receiver position of his era is rightfully enshrined.

    • Art Monk is more deserving on stats than many current members (Swann/Stallworth) and the most deserving on what he brought to the game a man and a role model.
