In 2004, the newest version of the anime series Astro Boy was brought to America, but with horrible re-writes, edits, bad voice casting, and only being on the air for a month, it quickly died. Along with this, when the series was released on DVD, it was soon discovered that only the english dub was included. With most anime DVDs giving you the choice between Dub and un-cut Japanese versions, this is unacceptable. Other animes that have met with the same problems have been recently re-released this way including One Piece and Sailor Moon. Please help Astro Boy become one of them and let Sony know what we want

- Not being a fan of any dubbed movies, captioning should always be made available as an option.

- UNCUT = MORE SALES. The only thing that should be cut is about 20 executives looking to stick their finger into the "creative" pie.

- I love Astro Boy, and I didn't find anything wrong with the series after seeing a few episdoes (I actually liked the voice cast, but hey, I might like the other ones better). However, I still would like to see the uncut versions. =)

- We wrap kids in too much cotton wool nowadays. You might censor a show but it'll do nothing to change what's happening in modern lives. The issue lyes with family, not with an anime on a robot child. Look at the 1980 version of Astro boy to 2003, there were greater elements of learning and life lessons in the older version than what was accepted in the 2003. Censors in the 2003 version were unreasonable, I found removing scenes of Astro's child like innocent nature a joke, as if you are setting a bad example that all boys must be tough and it is wrong to be sweet, to be unique. Censored scenes of Tobio death is understandable, but still should've been included as to to give children at an early age a life lesson on what it is to lose someone. shielding them from violence and scenes of loss will do them no good, but only make the blow harder when something tragic does happen to them. Cartoons shouldn't be childish with smiling faces and happy endings, they should teach children about life and death
