We, the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir stand at decisive crossroads of our history. There is no room for complacency today. We are the ones who have to take the initiative for deciding the future of our State. We are the ones who have to decide whether we want to choose a future where our children will have to relive the horrors of 1947 or walk the path that gives peace a chance.
We all know that the State of Jammu and Kashmir is a multicultural, multireligious, multiethnic, multilinguistic and our demographic composition vis-а-vis minorities and sub minorities is not unilaterally spread. In this unique landscape, people differ on the basis of their political aspirations, ideologies, experiences, historical memories and perspectives. Hence it is utmost important that the multinarratives and multi realties of our region are recognized, accepted and respected by each other.
In order to do so, the citizens have to come forward to reject the exclusivist agendas and politics based on dividing people on the basis of religion and region. There is a designed agenda to lead people towards hating and detesting each other. We have to put a stop to the ongoing hate politics, bloodbath and mobilizing people on the basis of religion and region.
The parochial agenda of political parties, whether elected or those which are separatist in nature, are shown the door and never to be accepted by any one of us. We have to become aware that the political constituencies which are being constructed on the cost human lives have destroyed homes, material and spiritual happiness of people and therefore they-messiahs of violence and hate should not find any space in our social and political lives. They have to be halted at any cost.
It is for us the citizens of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh to make way for the true spirit of Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism and Sikhism to guide and direct our relationships and respect for human life. It is for the citizens of this region to let the new creed of non-violence which does not mean mere rejection of external physical harm but upholding the values of inner deeper spiritual values of humanity to take charge of our daily lives. The need of the hour is for the citizens to come together and dialogue our differences, grievances, pain and humiliations.
As citizens of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, we sign and endorse this petition for dialogue between citizens of the region for resolving issues and deciding the future of Jammu and Kashmir. This petition will be considered as the voice of the people for choosing Citizen to Citizen Dialogue and for rejecting communal, hate and vote bank politics.

- I support this effort. I strongly believe that Kashmir issue can be resolved peacefully by engaging all parties in a face to face dialog. We must reject hatemongering by the vested interests. We should be forward looking and work towards peaceful Kashmir that maintains the principles of justice for all. Let us recognize that none of the religions or races has any monopoly on terrorism. Terrorist can come from any group and are usually motivated by some hate-based ulterior motives. At the same time, we must recognize that prolonged oppression of any peoples can also generate rebellion which may prompt some individuals to resort to violence. We must address the root causes and not just pay lip-service and patronize our people.

- Where were people like Ajaz Siraj or Ashima when I was forced to leave my home in the middle of the night in January 1990! Siraj was probably in his overseas HQ. Anyway - better late than never - Kashmir has seen enough blood on the streets.

- Quote yr petition..."the State of Jammu and Kashmir is a multicultural, multi-religious, multiethnic, multi-linguistic and our demographic composition vis-а-vis minorities and sub minorities is not unilaterally spread. In this unique landscape, people differ on the basis of their political aspirations, ideologies, experiences, historical memories and perspectives. Such ideas look good while reading but the bitterness that is experimented in 1989 and is once again tried in 2008 has finalised the outcome that is to go for decentralisation of J & K state. Ladhakh; Jammu; Kashmir & Kashmir for Battas name it Panun Kashmir or Nandan Van as mentioned in 11000 year ancient texts in which the arrival of Goddess of Tulmul is mentioned. What I realise is that everyone should get what one deserves apart from spreading the pseudo secular agendas.

- i want my state to remain intact, for this we need peace which presently should be our prime concern, people from all districts should select 2 representative one male and one female who will gather somewhere and discuss issues to resolve the problem without dividing our mother land only on the basis of religion, cast ,regions. we were most peace loving people in world before 1990. every one should think what the hell we created out of heaven which GOD gifted us 1000sof years back,

- I sign with hope that peace returns to valley. However, under no circumstances must it be construed that we acknowledge terrorism as an expression of some perceived 'oppression' by those who wish to impose their will on Kashmiri masses and force migration of those who disagree with their naked brutal designs

- Even though I was a confused teenager in 1989, I still feel deeply sorry for remaining silent while the fundamentalsit forced my dear Pandit friends to leave their ancestral homeland. At this stage, all I can say is that, if the Pandits ever return to the valley, I and many other like minded Muslims will never let the horrible events of 89 repeat. Never again.
